RTE Radio 1, 252 kHz

Today, I decided to scan also the long waves – maybe I would find something interesting there. This wasn’t the first time I hear RTE, but today’s reception quality was so good that I decided to publish a short recording with “Rising time”.

BBC Radio Stoke, 1503 kHz

In the last couple of days, AM reception hasn’t been that spectacular – except for UK stations. This morning, I listened to BBC Radio Stoke with exceptionally good signal, just some noise but no interference at all by other stations on the same frequency. As receiver, I used a Kiwi SDR located in Iitti, Finland… Continue reading BBC Radio Stoke, 1503 kHz

Radio Mi Amigo, 6085 kHz

Today, I heard Radio Mi Amigo on 6085 kHz with a pretty good signal. Unfortunately, the interference on nearby frequencies forced me to decrease the bandwidth. Because of this, the audio wasn’t that enjoyable.

Mike Radio, 5810 kHz

One more independent station recording this morning here in Finland. Mike Radio from Netherlands with an excellent signal was heard everywhere in Europe – also here in Finland.

Harmony Radio, 5780 kHz

One more station from today’s recordings: while sipping my morning coffee I ended up on 5780 kHz with a low power transmission from somewhere in Europe. The station played relaxing musing for chilling out – it was Harmony Radio!

Laser Hot Hits, 6205 kHz

In 1980’s I rarely heard any pirate radio stations. Nowadays, it seems there are many more independent (and maybe illegal) radio stations in than legal broadcasters in the short waves. Hobbyists keep the short waves alive! Today, I listened to Laser Hot Hits in 6205 kHz for twenty minutes. The reception was good, even if… Continue reading Laser Hot Hits, 6205 kHz

World Music Radio, 5930 kHz

Today, I decided to do a band scan on 49 metres. I stopped on 5930 kHz as I heard some Cuban rhytms. No, it wasn’t any Latin American station – it was World Music Radio from Denmark.

Radio Delta, 6020 kHz

Sunday morning is a great time for catching new stations. As I rediscovered DX listening only two months ago, I still have a lot to hear… This recording is a short station identification of Radio Delta on 6020 kHz (24th Jan 2021, 10:15 UTC).

Mystery Radio 21, 4875 kHz

Today’s catch is a pirate radio station from somewhere in Central Europe (I think). I had a look at 60 metre band to see if I would find anything interesting and noticed interesting music on 4875 kHz. It was the first SW pirate station I have been able to identify: Mystery Radio 21.

Radio Seabreeze, 1395 kHz

It is surprising how many new low powered AM stations operate nowadays in Europe. The AM band is nowadays a lot more interesting than in 1980s when it was full of European broadcasters shouting with 1 MW power. In those years, it was much more difficult than nowadays to hear these local stations. This is… Continue reading Radio Seabreeze, 1395 kHz
